Carolina Harbor will bring a tidal wave of transformation in 2016. In addition to the numerous Carowinds new waterpark attractions and amenities, the entire waterpark will receive enhancements, renovations and re-theming during the offseason.
It can be easy to overlook some of the smaller details in a waterpark expansion of this magnitude, but nothing will go untouched before our grand opening. Generally speaking, it will be a brand new waterpark. Our guests will be delighted with a world of new experiences and a welcoming Coastal Carolina theme.
The main bathhouse located near the park entrance of the waterpark is one of our larger remodeling projects currently underway. The changing rooms are being relocated and expanded to allow for more room and easier access. It will be similar to the bathhouse located near Tidal Wave Bay (formally Bondi Beach) but much, much larger. The bathhouse will also feature more stalls, more space, better facilities and theming.
The renovations being done on the main bathhouse is just one example of the enhancements you can expect to see when Carolina Harbor opens May 21, 2016.
New Names, New Logos, New Paint, New Gel Coating
An important part of re-theming a waterpark is coming up with new, appropriate names for existing attractions. For a complete guide to name changes and new colors check out our previous blog A Splash of Fresh Paint.
We also had to create new logos for every existing attraction. Take a look at the gallery below for a sneak peek at some of our future attraction logos!
In case a new name, a new paint job and a new logo weren’t enough, we are also adding new gel coats to our slides.
Funny thing about waterslides, they aren’t exactly waterproof. While they are extremely durable, wear and tear does occur over the course of several seasons. New gel coats will be applied to the interior of the slides to restore them to a like-new condition. Previously faded colors will be bright and deep, and all your current waterslides will be as good as new!
From head to toe, our waterpark will be completely transformed, refreshed and massively expanded. Carolina Harbor will be the place to be this summer, and entry is still included with the price of admission to Carowinds.
2016 will indeed be another historic year at the Premiere Entertainment Destination of the Carolinas, and there’s no better way to experience it than with a Gold Season Pass.
